Tuscaloosa Wine Tasting

November 28th, 2007
I hope that everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving holiday with their families. I know I enjoyed several very interesting and good wines and much too much fried turkey. Now it is back to the grind and into that final stretch up to the Christmas holiday. Please do not forget us in your holiday shopping. We have just put together some really wonderful gift baskets that would be the perfect gift for all those holiday parties. We will also do custom baskets if the pre-made ones aren't doing it for you. Well now to the business at hand. For the tasting this week we will be joined by Glen Toney from The Wine Source. Glen will be showcasing some of his wines from all over the world. In addition to Glen we will be joined by the ladies from Edelweiss Bakery. They will be showcasing some of their wonderful gastronomic treats. I'm not sure exactly what they will be bringing but since I have sampled most of what they serve over there I can say that it is all terrific! As for the wines here are the ones we will be tasting:

G. F. Cavalier Blanc De Blanc Brut NV Alsace, France $12.99

Bacaro Pinot Grigio 2006 Veneto, Italy $9.99

Sutton Cellars Chardonnay 2004 Monterey County, California $13.99

Falcor California Rosé 2005 $15.99

Brutocao Quadriga 2005 Mendocino, California $22.99

Rolf Binder Syrah, Mataro, Grenache “Heinrich” 2005 Barossa Valley, Australia $28.99

These wines should make for a really enjoyable tasting and Glen is very knowledgeable about all of them.

I have really enjoyed opening this wine shop and shaping its inventory. It is like an artist assembling his palate of colors with which he will paint his masterpiece. I still have a ways to go and some major holes to fill. But I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your input. If you see that I am lacking a certain wine or wines please let me know. You can send me an email and let me know what you would like to see or you can say something to me next time you are in the store. Finally I would like to thank all of you for your support. If it weren't for you I would not be here running this shop.

Thank you all,

Jonathan Harder
