My fiance and I frequent the bar at Cancun almost every friday night and sometimes on tuesday. That's when our favorite bartender and good friend,Casey is working.Although several of the restaurants on McFarland have bars, Cancun is the only one that seems to have a "scene" or a regular crowd. I'll have to say that the crowd is quite diverse and interesting. There are people from every part of Tuscaloosa society represented here, quite refreshing for a town like Tuscaloosa. It get's crazy crowded later at night and the kitchen closes at ten.
The food is as good as any Mexican I've had anywhere and if you want to be truly authentic,ask about the "non-menu" items.The only critisism that I would have is that the cooks usually only know one way to cook a steak, well done.I've remedied this by asking my server to write "DNR"(Darn near raw) on my order.When you do this your steak will arrive medium to medium rare.
When visiting the bar be sure to ask for thier signature shooter drink, the Mexican Bomb.Also asking for a "top shelf" Margarita will ensure a very plesant Margarita experience.
